Jess Rockhill

Movement has been a vital part of my life since I can remember. Gymnastics and dance were my passions growing up, and my first experience with yoga came early in life, for my mother was a solid home practitioner. Upon leaving high school and my competitive gymnastics career, I soon found yoga again in college. At first, I perceived it to be a great workout that harnessed the flexibility and strength aspects I adored from gymnastics. It wasn’t long before I began to see the deeper side of yoga; the healing, nurturing nature of this sacred and spiritual practice.

I feel blessed to say that I have been able to study with some of the best teachers Alaska has to offer: Iyengar yoga with Lynn Minton, Kundalini yoga with Nirvair Singh Khalsa, and the plethora of yoga styles taught by my fellow teachers here at Laughing Lotus Yoga of Anchorage. In November of 2009, I completed my first formal yoga training, the KRI Level 1 Aquarian Teacher training in Rishikesh, India under the guidance of Golden Bridge Yoga’s Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa. Kundalini yoga has provided me a path which strengthens both my body and mind, while giving me the courage to develop my soul and follow my spirit’s calling.

Ang sang Wahe Guru! - The dynamic, living ecstasy of the universe is dancing within every cell of me.
